Welcome to Interfaith Perspectives

The concept behind Interfaith Perspectives is to share spiritual viewpoints as another way of growing in our understanding of one another and recognizing the values found in the many-faceted ways each of us experiences and expresses our connection to God—known by many names.

Interfaith Perspectives incorporates articles originally written for the Corvallis Gazette-Times/Albany Democrat-Herald weekly column entitled “Interfaith Voices,” as well as stories contributed by other authors sharing their personal religious and spiritual experiences.

Interfaith Voices is the brainchild of Rev. Barbara Nixon.  When asked to describe how Interfaith Voices was born, she wrote: “Once upon a time, I approached the editor at the Corvallis Gazette-Times with an idea: The Saturday Religion page could feature a weekly column exclusively written by local writers from the many faith traditions and spiritual communities in and around Corvallis. As a United Methodist pastor, I had past experiences in other communities where this kind of feature was well-received by readers who found the columns meaningful and enriching.

So, with me agreeing to be the volunteer organizer, INTERFAITH VOICES was launched early in 2015, with eight regular writers and occasional guests in rotation. Writers wrote 600 words on absolutely any topic they chose, as long as it expressed something of their personal spiritual perspective or that of their faith tradition. Within a year, the column was also featured in the Albany Democrat-Herald. Now, more than ten years later, INTERFAITH VOICES is stronger than ever, with more than three dozen regular writers and countless guest contributors, representing dozens of faith and spiritual perspectives.
